How to Solve the Counting House Vault Puzzle in Baldur's Gate 3 BG3

counting house bg3

There are a lot of small vaults inside the Counting House in Baldur’s Gate 3. All of these vaults are locked and require you to use a lockpick with a DC15 check. But our primary focus is the larger vault, Vault 9, at the end of the corridor with some marked tiles (digits) in front of it. To solve the Counting House Vault puzzle in Baldur’s Gate 3, enter the correct code by stepping on the tiles in order. In front of you, you find a puzzle where you have to stand members of your party on the right symbols on the floor to advance.

Baldur’s Gate 3: How to Solve Counting House Vaults Door Puzzle

Go into this building and back out through the southern metal door (you’ll have to lockpick it first). The Counting House guards aren’t all that tough, but they do have big swords, and they sure do know how to use them. Just make sure you have your beefiest characters with you, and you’ll be able to muscle through it. After you’ve taken care of the guards on the first floor, you can head through the giant center gate and make your way to the vault, continuing your path of slaughter all the way down. Once you have your pass, you can show it to the guards and pass through the giant gate in the Counting House. From there, just follow the linear halls all the way down, and you’ll arrive at the vault.

Go downstairs and present the guards with the temporary vault pass again before entering the vault. Go through the passageway to reach The Counting House Vault. Counting House Vault Door has nine panels on the floor and requires you to step on them in the right order. The vault 9 inside the Counting House contains a treasure chest that you can loot to obtain Elegant studded leather, which grants you light armor and an advantage on your stealth checks.

*** EDIT - Thanks for all the helpful comments, we found almost all the high security vault keys! ***

In 6, is a parasite and a load of letters written by Gortash about the central plot. Inside the high-security vaults, after another passageway transition, a cutscene plays. After the cutscene, where a doppelganger Jaheira appears to take Minsc away, a fight breaks out with a load of Bhaalite cultists. To enter further into the bank, the party must show a Bank Pass to Cashguard Captain Faril or use diplomacy. The Bank Pass will allow access to the lower levels of the bank, including the safes and vaults.

What is the Baldur’s Gate 3 Counting House vault code?

In the next room, the ledger on the desk tells you that Minsc is being given a tour of the lower vaults, so that’s where you need to go. Enter the Counting House via the front door and you will need a pass to enter the large iron fence in the middle of the foyer. In the Undercellar, the lair of the Thieves’ Guild, you speak to their leader, Nine Fingers Keene.

However, to enter the magically protected vault, players need to find codes in the Head Banker’s Office on the second floor. If you want to get to the office while avoiding fighting the guards, there are a variety of different strategies you can employ. The city hub in Baldur’s Gate 3 is a sprawling, busy, beautiful place, and, of course, has its own central bank. A place where the richest Baldurians lock away their valuables, and, as it turns out, a target for all manner of unsavory folk. You have to get into the main vault, but it’s protected by a four-digit code, which requires you to key in the correct combination by stepping on the corresponding tiles on the floor. You can acquire this code by breaking into the Head Banker’s office on the second floor of the bank, or you could read on and save yourself the trouble.

There's a small storage room here, which also happens to have a pipe. Since a cat is small enough, interacting with the pipe causes them to reach the Head Banker's Office on the second floor. Counting House Vault n°4 Key - Can be looted or pickpocketed from Roger Highberry in Highberry's Home in the Lower City. Talk to the guard at the entrance to show them your temporary vault pass and they will let you inside. For his part, Minsc will be encountered again later in Act III.

The Counting House in Baldur’s Gate 3 is Baldur’s Gate’s central bank. You’ll probably find yourself there while pursuing Jaheira’s quest to find the Stone Lord. This eventually leads to Minsc, so if you want him as a companion, you’ll want to help out Jaheira. Eventually, you need to break into a vault to find the Stone Lord, but there’s a confusing puzzle on the ground that requires a four-digit code.

Find the Stone Lord at the Counting House (Minsc) Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG

So, instead of running all the way up there, wasting Invisibility, and risking getting caught, here’s how to input the code. To find the answer legitimately, you need to go to the second floor of the Counting House, lockpick your way into the off-limits door, and find a ledger. Have you noticed that Act 3 has a lot of puzzles that require you to run to secondary locations?

If you’ve done this correctly, all four lightning bottles will light up, and the vault will open. You have now completed the Counting House puzzle in BG3 and can move on to find out what’s happening with Minsc. Below, you can see an image of the correct tiles to stand on to complete the puzzle as well as which tiles to step on first.

Through one way or another, you learn that the ambush is happening soon, and you need to reach the area as quickly as possible if you want to intervene. This goes double for players who want to recruit Minsc into their party. You can also check out the numbered image we created above to see the exact order.

She’s heavily guarded and in deep conversation with an accountant. It seems like their protection racket is falling apart, but when you’re noticed conversation turns to you. The trail of both leads to a heist at the Counting House bank in the Lower City, where a trap has been laid to defeat the Stone Lord for good. You can also use only one character to press the buttons in order. If you make any mistakes, you will have to start from the beginning.

To find the answer, you need to go to the second floor of the Counting House, lockpick your way into the heavily guarded door, and find a passcode. The vaults are tied to the quest "Aid the Underduke" and lead into other major story Arcs. You can get this quest by helping guild thugs fight the Stone Lord crew and/or finding the Guild Hall. Guild Hall is located insoutheastern part of Baldur's Gate, to the right of Sorcerous Sundries. There is a lot to explore in Baldur’s Gate 3, with our BG3 review going into a spoiler-free hint at several highlights. Before you tackle the Counting House vault, it’s worth taking another look at your class – you don’t want to be caught short if a fight breaks out.

In 7 you get the knock knuckle gloves, then in 8 you find the Patriar Blackmail Files. They’re not bothered about you stealing everything that’s not nailed down from the vaults, so it’s time for you to break out a thief again. To find the Counting House Vault 9 code in Baldur’s Gate 3, you need to enter the Head Banker’s office on the second floor. This area is protected by two sentries who will immediately kick you out if you fail the DC25 persuasion check.

If you’d rather be feisty, you can always choose violence to get into the Counting House. As you stalk your way through the Counting House, ideally robbing every nook and cranny absolutely blind, you’ll find yourself faced with a vault and a puzzle. And you could run around everywhere, trying to figure it out. Here’s how to solve the Counting House Vaults Puzzle in Baldur’s Gate 3. Use a ranged weapon to shoot the buttons in the middle of the room and you can walk on the seals. Then 5, which you can open if you have avery’s key, has a load of gold and a scroll of revivify.

The contents of the safes and where to find the keys is listed in the Loot-Section The keys follow the naming convention "High Security Vault n°X Key". Lockpicking and looting these vaults will not trigger any security response. The puzzle is in the area just after you pass all of the doors that hold different bank vaults in them. There is a plaque in front of the puzzle that says you have to talk with the head banker to retrieve the current codes. However, you don’t have time for that, so you can just copy what I did to get inside the vault.
